On Monday, 29th of March, during track and field training, I was with Debbie, my classmate, Shi Li, a friend from another class, and a senior who guided us. Looking up at the grey clouds, I told Shi Li, “It is going to rain. Look at the sky and oh!” Shi Li, Debbie, our senior and I shouted almost at the same time. “Lightning!” “Never mind, I think it’s all right. The coach will tell us to stop if the situation gets worse.” The senior advised us to carry on.
We were joking around, saying that the tallest among us would have to be careful and not to get struck by the lightning. “Oh! Did you feel that?” Shi Li suddenly asked. “Feel what?” Debbie was puzzled. “I felt raindrops.” Shi Li replied. “Raindrops?! Are you mad? No, I can’t feel it. I think you’re crazy!” exclaimed Debbie. I was smiling. It was interesting to see the minor quarrel they had with each other. You can never expect what would happen. Perhaps Shi Li would suddenly go mad and laugh in a strange manner helplessly, unable to stop and control herself or Debbie suddenly shouting and laughing at the same time. “Maybe.” Shi Li shrugged. After a few minutes, I felt it. “Hey! Shi Li! I felt it too!” I shouted as I went over to Shi Li. “Are you guys seriously mad? I can’t feel anything! Are you sure you’re not hallucinating?” Debbie looked at us with an incredulous look on her face. Just after a few seconds, Debbie admitted. “Okay, I feel it.” The rest of us could not help but laugh. One moment ago she was just asking if we were mad and next she was in the same situation as us.
“Hurry and pack up!” The coach from the other side of the field roared. We grabbed our bottles and ran for our lives. Well, we certainly did not wish to disobey the coach or else I guess consequences would have been dire. “Run!” When running, Shi Li and Debbie was shouting to each other and laughing at the same time. Reaching the shelter, we heaved a sigh of relief. All of a sudden, the wind caused the sand nearby to fly into several people’s eyes. Most unfortunately, I was one of the victims and could do nothing but to give Debbie and Shi Li, who were laughing hysterically at the people by then, an annoyed look. We went into the gym and after some stretching, Debbie returned home. However, it was raining heavily and I decided to stay in the school with another friend until the rain stopped. After an hour or so, I returned home with the friend. The day was certainly a day that I would not want to forget.
